Penndel, PA July 13 - July 16 2017
The "Journey" began seven years ago and was the "Dream Child" of Ed Prescott, the organizer of the event. I couldn't caption all 361 photos, but maybe I'll try to cover a collection of them. But the pictures begin with the arrival of the Huey helicopter on Wednesday, and the caravan of the Wall and motorcycle escort on Thursday, starting at the Pennsylvania Welcome Center at the Delaware border. A motorcycle escort of more than 100 riders, including "Rolling Thunder" and other similar organizations, rode with the van carrying the traveling Wall, north on US I-95, with ladder salutes on overpasses, and under crossed ladders near its final destination.
The next day Volunteers from Parx Casino braved the brutal heat and humidity to construct the Wall at the Penndell Memorial Field.
The following day, the Wall was open for visitors. There were several very moving ceremonies over the three days, and these are all represented in this gallery. What an amazing event it was. At the very end of the weekend, Ed Prescott was surprised that his team had arranged a flag-folding ceremony, and the flag was then ceremonially bestowed on Ed Prescott, with his family and staff surrounding him.
